One of the most popular San Bernardino county parks is Calico Ghost Town, which was preserved by Walter Knott who donated the park to the County of San Bernardino in 1966. This 480-acre park offers 265 camping sites, three different areas for group camping, cabins available for campers, and a bunk house. The facilities there include hot showers, restrooms, grills, restaurants and shops. There are also a number of activities and attractions to see and do while visiting Calico Ghost Town. These include a museum, seasonal gold panning, the Maggie Mine, gunfights, and self guided tours. One can spend many wonderful days exploring this wonderful park. Cucamongo-Guasti is a park in San Bernardino County that can be visited for a wonderful day trip experience. It is here in this 150-acre park that one can while away the hours swimming, fishing, or picnicking. The fish that can be found here are trout, bass, and catfish. If fishing isn't your thing, use a pedal boat or aqua cycle rentals in either of their two lakes. Also have a great picnic with the grills and fire rings available. After a light lunch, spend some time in the playground, on the volleyball courts, or in the horseshoe pits. Glen Helen is a wonderful San Bernardino County park that sits on 1,340 acres. This is another great area for picnicking, fishing, and swimming. There are very fun 350-foot double-flume waterslides that will provide many hours of fun and entertainment. Glen Helen is also home to the Hyundai Pavilion, which is the largest amphitheatre in the United States. It has a capacity of 65,000 people. Joshua Tree National Park is another great park used primarily for camping in San Bernardino County. Here there are nine campgrounds in total as well as group sites available. These campgrounds are for the true camping enthusiasts as the facilities are minimal. It's important to check out this park's rules and regulations before heading out as this area is highly preserved and it is ruled accordingly. San Bernardino County parks are a great way to spend some time throughout the entire year, whether you are looking to spend a week camping or are just wanting to spend the day in a scenic area. The parks listed here are just a few and should not be considered all that San Bernardino County parks have to offer.
